Phani Mohan is the Director and Owner of Anagha Datta Trade, an analyst and commodity trader of sugar derivatives. He facilitated export of bulk ethanol of Jeypore sugars, facilitated REFF India. He is a member of better Sugarcane Initiative and also member of Roundtable on sustainable biofuels and member of EU biofuels. He is knowledgeable on working of the ethanol production industry in India and the marketing aspect of ethanol in the emerging consumer sectors in the World and has presented Paper "Ethanol Economies of Cane" at Sugar Industry Technologists - S.I.T., April 5-8, 2009, New Orleans. Presented at ISCCT Coimbatore India on Liquid Fuels of Cane. Presented at Sugar Asia 2009 Delhi-Economic Potential and relevance of Bio fuel program in India. Studied Sugar and Bio fuel Opportunities in African region.Presently working on Bio Hydrogen prospects in India.

Indian sugar firms seek higher ethanol prices

In India, new developments on the subcontinent include a warming to oil companies not to fail in meeting the E5 ethanol blending mandate, and a request from sugar producers for a higher fixed price for the ethanol they are providing to meet the mandate.

The sugar fims have indicated that the fixed $1.73 price negotiated in 2006 is too low, given rising global sugar prices.
